Douglas Askman is an associate professor of history at Hawaii Pacific University. He has visited approximately 150 national, state, and provincial supreme courts in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific.
This presentation examined and compared the supreme courts of over 50 different jurisdictions in Europe. It looked at the architecture, decoration, and history of supreme court buildings and courtrooms. It also considered the structure and organization of various European supreme courts and highlight similarities and differences with the American judicial system.
